For over a decade, Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina has made the protection and conservation of our home here on Estero Island a top priority. By becoming an environmentally friendly property and being actively involved in serving our community, we’re aligning ourselves with the principles that drive sustainable efforts forward. In fact, you’ll find that several of our core values encompass sustainability: being socially responsible, making a noticeable difference, putting people first, achieving extraordinary results and committing to the highest levels of trust, integrity and professionalism.
“4 Palm” Designation from Florida Department of Environmental Protection
In 2021, Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina achieved the “4 Palm” designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as part of the Florida Green Lodging Program. This sustainability award is the highest level of achievement any accommodation can receive from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. As a matter of fact, we are one of only seven resorts in the state who have been given this “4 Palm” designation.
Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina received this designation thanks to our continued efforts to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources. For example, we have reduced our use of single-use plastics, installed Turtle Safe lighting and added an electric car charging station–and all of that is just the beginning.
Sustainability Initiatives
At Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina, we’re putting sustainability into practice by actively reducing our environmental footprint. We’re doing this by cutting back on our waste and energy consumption and encouraging our guests to do the same. Here are just some of the ways you may notice us taking a stand for the environment when you stay with us:
- Reduction of single use plastics
- Energy efficient heat pumps (rather than natural gas) to heat the pools
- Installation of UV Air Scrubbers in all air conditioning units
- Free shared transportation for associates
- Furniture made from recycled plastics
- An electric car charging station
Community Involvement
While making these sustainable changes at our resort is an important step, we also believe in taking an active role in protecting the creatures that call Estero Island home and serving our community at the same time. At the resort, guests of all ages can take advantage of our fun and educational Nature and Wildlife programs and play their part in making sure the wildlife in our neighborhood feel just as welcome and at home as we do. Both on our property and in the greater Lee County, Pink Shell is proud to support animal rehabilitation, clean water and environmental education initiatives.
Captains for Clean Water
We’ve partnered with Captains for Clean Water, a non-profit that aims to protect and restore Florida’s waterways through education and awareness surrounding science-based solutions. Since 2021, Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina has continued our support of Captains for Clean Water by donating thousands of dollars to assist with the vital conservation work they do in our estuaries. As a united front, we hope to advance water conservation and make a lasting impact for our visitors, communities and local wildlife.
Keep Lee County Beautiful
Keep Lee County Beautiful is a non-profit that aims to preserve the natural beauty of Florida’s Lee County. Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina supports Keep Lee County Beautiful by planting native species on our property and taking an active role in cleaning up litter in the Fort Myers and Cape Coral area.
