Fort Myers Beach Hotel, Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina, Hosting Pig Roast to Benefit The Harry Chapin Food Bank

The public is invited to participate in the American Culinary Federation of Southwest Florida’s pig roast competition on Sunday, October 28, at the Coconuts Pool Deck at The Pink Shell Resort, Fort Myers Beach. The event, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Who can’t resist a pig roast—and at the cost per person of only $10.00. Additional donations, including nonperishable food, will also be accepted. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite chef’s offering.
A minimum of five teams will be competing for the title of "people’s favorite.". A full buffet to accompany the roast pigs will be provided by The Pink Shell, Sysco Foods, Cheney Brothers, US Foods, and Happy Foods. Entertainment during the event will be provided by the band 24 Carat.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of 160 nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties that provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. Over 1 million pounds of food are distributed by the Harry Chapin Food Bank monthly. For every dollar donated, about $6 in food value goes back to the community. In the past fiscal year, the Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than 15 million pounds of food and other grocery items valued at more than $24.9 million. This is roughly the equivalent of 12.5 million meals to people in need.
